Face Verification

GPS proves where a device is. It doesn't prove who is holding it. Attenova closes that gap with face verification: when a student enrols, they capture a reference photo once. From then on, every check-in — class, chapel, or event — asks for a quick live face capture that's matched against that enrolment photo.

Both checks have to pass. A session code shared with a friend, or a phone handed to someone else, still fails at the face-match step even if the GPS location is correct. The capture takes a few seconds and runs on the same phone the student already uses to check in.

The Challenge

GPS verification alone stops one kind of proxy attendance — being marked present from off-campus. It doesn't stop the other kind: a student physically in range handing their unlocked phone and session code to a friend who checks in on their behalf. Solving that requires confirming identity, not just location, without turning check-in into a slow or awkward process.

How Attenova solves this

Attenova asks for a short live face capture at the moment of check-in and matches it against the photo captured during enrolment. This runs alongside the GPS check, not as a replacement for it — both have to pass for the attendance record to be created. Because it reuses the phone's own camera, no additional hardware or per-classroom equipment is needed.
