Attenova is a campus management platform built for universities. It replaces paper sign-ins and manual roll calls with a digital system where students mark attendance using a unique session code, GPS, and face verification — all in under 30 seconds. The same platform covers hostel bed-checks, chapel and event attendance, and student permission requests, with dedicated dashboards for students, lecturers, hostel managers, and administrators — and, with ClassPulse, live class quizzes, polls and anonymous Q&A.
When a student submits their attendance, their device sends GPS coordinates to the Attenova server. The server calculates the distance between the student's location and the classroom's registered coordinates using the Haversine formula. If the student is outside the lecturer's set radius (typically 50–200 metres), the check-in is rejected. The code alone is never enough — physical presence is required.
No. Even with the correct code, the GPS check will fail for anyone not physically within the classroom radius. Session codes also expire the moment the lecturer closes the session, so codes cannot be reused for future classes.
Yes. Any event with a physical location can use Attenova — chapel services, seminars, labs, practicals, and departmental events. The organiser simply creates a session, sets the GPS radius for the venue, and generates a code. The same student and admin dashboards track all attendance types in one place.
Attenova is available as an Android app on Google Play, and as a web app at apps.attenova.name.ng that works in any modern phone browser — including on iPhone, while our dedicated iPhone app is on the way. It uses your phone's GPS and camera for location and face verification, so a smartphone is needed to check in.
Yes. Hostel managers can add hostels, manage rooms, and run bed-check sessions the same way a lecturer runs a class session. Every check-in is verified and logged, and both students and hostel managers can review the full bed-check history at any time.
GPS confirms where a device is, not who is holding it. Face verification closes that gap — a quick live face capture is matched against the student's enrolment photo at every check-in, so a shared session code and a borrowed phone still won't pass. Both checks have to succeed for attendance to be recorded.
Yes. Students submit permission and leave requests directly from the app instead of a paper slip. Depending on what the request is for, it's routed to the right approver — a lecturer, hostel manager, or admin — who can approve or decline it from their own dashboard, with a full history kept on both sides.
Nothing. Attenova costs the university absolutely ₦0 — no setup fee, no licensing fee, no maintenance fee. Instead, the university earns a 10% revenue share of ₦500 for every student who activates their account each semester. Students pay ₦5,000 per semester for full access.
Typically 3 weeks. Week 1: account setup, student and lecturer database import, and department configuration. Week 2: training sessions — a 2-hour session for lecturers, a 1-hour orientation for students, and an admin walkthrough. Week 3: the system goes live with Attenova on-site support available during the first week of use.
Attenova runs on auto-scaling cloud infrastructure with 99.9% uptime. In the rare event of an outage, lecturers are notified immediately and can manually record attendance via the admin panel. Manual records sync automatically once the system is back online — no data is lost.
Student GPS coordinates are only used at the moment of check-in to verify physical presence. They are not stored on our servers after verification and are never shared with any third party. All data transmitted is SSL/TLS encrypted, and student passwords are bcrypt-hashed.

Lecturers run quick quizzes, polls and anonymous Q&A during class or as homework, students answer on their phones, and after every session the lecturer sees who needs help and which topics to re-teach. It’s part of the same Attenova app and web app — nothing extra to install. See how it works.
Four ways: type a subject or topic and let AI write the questions; upload notes or a teaching guide as a PDF, Word (.docx) or text file; take or upload a photo of handwritten notes, a textbook page or the board; or type questions themselves. The lecturer reviews, edits or removes every AI question before students see it, and all questions are kept in a question bank for that course to reuse.
Yes. Fractions, powers, roots, integrals, matrices and other formulas are displayed properly on every phone, and the AI writes mathematics in that format. When typing a question, lecturers see a live preview of their formulas.
Multiple choice, true/false, short answer and polls. Each question has its own timer. Short answers that match the model answer are marked automatically; the rest can be marked by AI or by the lecturer.
Both. In live mode the lecturer shows one question at a time, watches the answers come in and reveals the right answer with an explanation. In self-paced mode students take the quiz on their own before an optional due date — useful for homework and revision.
They get a notification when a quiz starts and join with one tap from their Attenova dashboard — no room codes and no extra app. Only students enrolled in the course with an activated account can join, and a lecturer can limit a quiz to students marked present in that class.
It’s much harder than on paper. The timer is enforced by our server, answer options appear in a different order for each student, the right answer is only shown after the question closes, and lecturers can allow only students who are marked present in the class.
A report with the class average, students grouped as excelling, average or needing help, each student’s weak topics, the hardest questions and the most common wrong answer, how students said they felt, and a “re-teach first” list of topics. AI can add a short teaching summary. Results download to Excel or PDF.
Yes. Students can send questions anonymously during a live session and upvote questions classmates have asked, and they can tap “I’m lost” at any time so the lecturer knows to slow down.
No extra cost — it’s included in the student activation, and the university pays nothing. The Attenova team switches ClassPulse on for each university; contact us to turn it on. Admins then see participation and results across courses, and HODs and deans see their own departments.
No student names or personal details are sent. Only the lecturer’s own material is used to write questions; to mark short answers and write the teaching summary, only the answers and the class’s overall numbers are used.
