GPS-Verified Attendance
Attenova's GPS-verified attendance system makes proxy attendance physically impossible. When a student submits their attendance, the system cross-checks their GPS coordinates against the registered classroom location using the Haversine formula.
If the student is outside the lecturer's set radius — typically 50 to 200 metres — the check-in is rejected instantly. The session code alone is never enough. Location must match.
The entire check-in process takes under 30 seconds. Students open Attenova on any device, enter the code, and the system verifies their GPS position in real time.

The Challenge
Proxy attendance has been an unsolved problem in Nigerian universities for decades. Paper sign-in sheets are easy to forge. Biometric scanners are expensive and create bottlenecks. Card systems can be passed to absent students. The challenge was to build a system that verifies both identity and physical location simultaneously — without requiring any hardware, without slowing down the start of class, and without costing the university anything.

Attenova solves the proxy attendance problem through two simultaneous checks: a unique session code that only the lecturer knows, and GPS coordinates that only someone physically in the classroom can provide. Both must pass for attendance to be recorded. The session code changes every class, expires when the lecturer closes the session, and can never be reused.

No. The GPS check is mandatory. If a student has location services disabled on their device, the system will prompt them to enable it before the check-in can proceed.
